30% to 40% of a home's warmth is lost through the windows. This explains the demand for quality thermally insulated windows. Glass plays a major part in the thermal efficiency. Double and triple glazing significantly reduces heat loss and provides your home and conservatory with a more constant temperature which is important for a healthy living environment. The main benefits of double- and triple glazing are:

•    Warmer in winter
•    Cooler in summer
•    Reduces condensation
•    Reduces energy usage
•    Reduces noise

DOUBLE GLAZING

Double glazing is a huge improvement to single glazing. Double glazing works by trapping air between the two panes of glass. This creates an insulating barrier that reduces the heat being lost and it also improves the soundproofing of your conservatory, windows and doors.

TRIPLE GLAZING

To further increase the thermal efficiency and reduce the heat loss through the glass to the absolute minimum, triple glazing can be specified for our products.  Triple glazing has also superior soundproofing characteristics. Due to the timber profile of ThermaDura’s windows and doors, glass units of up to 62mm can be accommodated.

LOW E COATINGS

Low-emissivity (low-E) coatings are microscopically thin metal layers that are deposited on a glass surface to help keep heat on the same side of the glass from which it originated. We distinguisch between a soft-coat Low E coating and a hard-coat Low E coating. The soft coat Low E is far more efficient (U-value 1.1) and it results in a clearer appearance to the glass.

THE “WARM EDGE”

In our system the spacers plays a vital role in driving down your heating bills. Conventional spacers are made of Aluminium but cause the edge of the glazing panel to cool rapidly when outside temperatures drop. This results in the loss of valuable energy.

Using thermal spacers in the double or triple glazing helps to significantly reduce heat loss at the glass edge, while the periphery of the window on the room side remains warmer, lending the glass a "warm edge“.

ARGON & KRYPTON GAS

Heating costs can be saved by using noble gasses in the cavity between the glass panes. Argon or Krypton have a lower thermal conductivity than air and reduce additionally the heat loss of a double- or triple glazed unit.
